Obituary of Mark "Buff" Krause

Tribute Mark (Buff) D Krause of Longmont Colorado died peacefully on December 13, 2022 at a local hospital in Longmont, CO from COVID complications. Mark (Buff) is survived by his wife Sherry Gebauer, stepdaughter Angie and husband Anthony and grandsons, Jayce and Tristin. He is also survived by his Mother, Ilah Holst of Rapid City, SD, Brother Michael Krause of Minneapolis, MN, Sister Jodi Krause of Littleton, CO and nephews and great nephews. He is preceded in death by his Father, Ronald Krause, of Clear Lake, SD. Mark grew up in the small town of Waltham, near Austin, MN. He was a 1977 graduate of Hayfield High School, where he was a standpoint wrestler in the heavyweight class. He was also a Harley-Davidson enthusiast and shared many trips and memories with his brotherhood of biking buddies, including numerous trips to the Rally in Sturgis, SD. After highschool, Mark studied CAD Design and lived for a time in ST Paul and later in California before moving to Colorado in 1981 with his friend and Minnesota neighbor, Michael Christian. Buff worked for a time at StorageTek as a CAD Technician, where he met Sherry, who became his lifelong companion. Buff liked to work on motorcycles and dabbed in rental property. Mark had an especially close relationship with his grandson, Jayce, who he and Sherry raised from a young boy. Mark and Jayce were the best of pals. Mark and Jayce would go on trips together to chase trains, especially the Big Boy, or just to find trains to ride in other States. They loved doing things together. Mark was so proud of all of Jayce’s accomplishments. Jayce could not have asked for a better Grandpa and friend. Mark also enjoyed going to Tristin’s football games this past year. In recent years, Mark suffered serious health complications from diabetes and for several years had to have kidney dialysis every 48 hours. He got a new chance at life with a new kidney transplant in August 2020, which gave him two good years so he could travel again, including trips to the motorcycle rally in Sturgis. This also bought him time to see Jayce graduate from Highschool. Cremation Services are being arranged by Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home in Longmont, CO. Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the diabetes or kidney foundation. Services
