Obituary of David Andrew Rodriguez

Tribute The light and joy that David Andrew Rodriguez (59) brought to this world was taken away November 29, 2022 following a two week battle with Covid-19 while a resident in a LTC facility in Denver, CO. David was born on February 23, 1963 in Longmont, CO to Joseph and Mary (Lopez) Rodriguez. He was the ninth of ten children. David was raised on Reed Place where all the longtime residents on that street felt like family, he had many fond memories living there. David attended the Tiny Tim Center in Longmont at the age of four then entered Columbine Elementary School when he was six years old. At middle school age he was enrolled in Carmel Community Living Corp. for the disabled in Boulder, CO. He was bussed daily to attend the special needs programs that were offered and transitioned into high school at Fairview High School and graduated from there in 1983. While at Fairview High School he joined a wrestling team. For many years David was active with Special Olympics, he excelled in competitive swimming and won many medals, some of them Gold. He also trained and ran in a Turkey Trot in Longmont David enjoyed riding bikes, swimming, always jamming to music, loved watching music videos and movies. He was a big fan of WWE wrestling and football. He was the best loyal Broncos fan that a team can have regardless if they won or lost he loved them anyway. He also was a Colorado Rockies fan and enjoyed attending their games.He also was an avid bowler, periodically he would be on a bowling team with his friends. He enjoyed visiting with all his family. His biggest passion was dancing! David would take over the dance floor to Michael Jackson’s song ‘Billie Jean’ and do the moonwalk. David held many jobs throughout his life. For several years he worked at the Broker Inn in Boulder. Before leaving Boulder County he worked at Packaging Resources Inc. While living in Adams County he worked on recycling projects, he did in house assembly line work and volunteered at several locations in the community. He volunteered once a week at Sister Carmen’s food bank in Lafayette, CO. David liked to work, never wanted to miss a day. In 1997 David’s sister Lydia and his brother-in-law Modesto along with their three children welcomed him into their home in Brighton, CO. He started Day Program services with North Metro Community Services where he immediately made many lasting friendships. He resided in Brighton for 26 years. David’s family knows that he touched many lives. He had a comforting soul, an infectious smile, and the cutest laugh. He loved his family and friends immensely, no one was a stranger to him. He would give the warmest most sincere hugs, he would wrap you with both arms. Life was a party for him, he loved life! We all are definitely going to miss David. We all have our own memories of him that we will hold close to our hearts. He is proceeded in death by his Father Joseph and his Mother Mary, Brother Danny, a Brother who passed as an infant named David, and his nephew little Danny. Survived by Brothers Joe Rodriguez Jr. (Anna), Paul Rodriguez (Darlene), Pat Rodriguez (Billie) of Longmont, CO. Anthony Rodriguez (Linda) of Carrollton, TX, and Richard Rodriguez (Deb) of Billings, Montana. Sisters Rachel Rodriguez of Longmont, CO and Lydia Villalobos (Modesto) of Brighton, CO. David was a proud Uncle to 30 nieces and nephews, 36 great, and 6 great-great. He was known to tell each one of them that they were his favorite. Interment of his ashes will be buried next to his Mother at Foothills Gardens of Memory in Longmont, CO followed by a Celebration of Life reception.
