Obituary of Katherine Grace Bosnich

Katherine Grace Bosnich Tribute

Katherine Grace, precious daughter, beloved sister, loving parent to her dog Ruby, friend to everyone she met, and caring support to so many, passed away on November 10, 2022. She fought hard through her bouts with ulcerative colitis and the dangerous, associated complications. Exhausted and discouraged from the most recent one and a half year battle, she ended her own life peacefully in her own bed after a loving evening with her parents. She was far too young at 26 years old. Katherine was born October 6, 1996 in her childhood home in Berthoud, Colorado to her parents Marinko Bosnich and Dianne (Monke) Bosnich. She passed away in her family’s second home in Berthoud having moved back from Tennessee when her health battle became unmanageable and she eventually couldn’t take care of herself and Ruby and work as a Registered Nurse. She loved helping people.

Katherine is the second of four children, all home-birthed, all homeschooled through middle school. The resulting family ties are so deep. Saying she will be greatly missed by all is a gross understatement, but there are no other words worthy to replace them.

Katherine excelled as a student, athlete, and artist. After finishing top 10 in her high school class, she took her early college courses at CU Boulder while working towards her nursing degree. She then completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Tennessee Wesleyan University, finishing at the top of her class with a well-earned 4.0. As a result, she had her choice of positions upon graduation. Katherine chose to be in the highly demanding ICU during COVID. With additional internal and external pressures and stressors accumulating in the already unprecedented healthcare environment… this is when her colitis returned acutely. She then attempted to work in-home healthcare positions while treating her colitis, but eventually she couldn’t work at all.

While also dabbling as a multi-sport athlete in diving and track, one highlight of her athletic achievements was being selected captain of her Thompson Valley High School gymnastics state championship team during her senior year. Her specialty was the beam.

She also played piano so beautifully and expressively. But Katherine’s greatest artistic expression was in detailed graphite portraits, for which she was commissioned when she had time to do so. She started with and focused on the eyes, and created such shaded depth of expression that simply brought the portraits to life. She had such a flare for personal expression in all its forms.

Most of all, Katherine was fearless and fun in all that she did. She wasn’t afraid of anything. The bigger the challenge, the more she rose to the occasion when others might fade away. She was often the first to try something that others have not attempted beforehand. And she had such a witty, clever, and infectious sense of humor through it all. It would often lead to uncontrollable, belly aching laughter. She put her whole heart into everything she did. Her sun did indeed shine so bright.

Katherine leaves behind her father, Marinko, mother, Dianne, brothers, Daniel and Jonathan, sister, Elizabeth, and her dog, Ruby, the kind and gentle giant, a beautiful, 120lb English Mastiff. All of them, along with the many others she has touched with her beautiful, kind, and caring life, wish her the most gentle and peaceful rest for her spirit, soul, and body… We Love You and Miss You! Thank you for coming home before you left for your final home.
