Our Dad - from Christie and RichardOur Dad was in many ways to us was a Super Hero, growing up and even as adults we believed he could fix anything or find the answer to any question. From what weve heard about his child-hood, he was brave when faced with extremely difficult situations and our Aunt Jeanette speaks highly of him as her protector. We also knew growing up and as adults that our Dad would do anything to protect us and he was a very strong brave man up until his last breath he showed strength and bravery, him and Mom side by side, fighting against a horrible disease and us helping however we could. Our parents showed us bravery like no other especially over the past few months. We are so very blessed to grow up with such loving parents! We also saw him and Mom being brave through dealing with his cluster migraine headaches. We were all overjoyed the day those went away!Theres so many great memories that we both have of our Dad from working on cars with him, playing with our family pets, horsing around at family get-togethers (He would walk all over Grandpa Romeo and Grandma Ettas back yard on his hands, he was so strong!) There was lots of arm wrestling, he would always win! Lots of tickling and laughter! His love for cars, fast, good-looking cars has definitely been carried on to us, his kids. Its all his fault that we also have a need for speed and pretty paint jobs, and it was bread into us to hate bondo, ha, ha. We bonded with our Dad in his garage for sure, working on cars, it was always amazing the shape of car when he brought it home and then after much blood, much sweat, much money, (just ask Mom).WOW a masterpiece emerged from those garage doors! How exciting is was every time a new motor was lowered into a car and how exciting every time it was the first time for that motor to turn over and roar (SO LOUD!) in that garage. Our Dad was not only a wonderful Dad, but a wonderful Grandpa to Josh and Courtney and Justin and Nathan, they all have wonderful memories of him, he was a fun parent and Grandparent and always willing to help with money or rides or a listening ear. Courtney loved to pick on her Grandpa Bob because he could see it brought her joy and he was loving and gentle, he would let her mess up his hair and just laugh and then comb it neatly again. He had the best hair, he was a really cool Dad and Grandpa. He was a fantastic Great Grandpa to Emily, as soon as she starting talking, she would ask to go see Grandpa Bob so he could make her paper airplanes. She loved to sit on his lap and just be close to him, you could tell that she also thought he was a super hero. Emily along with all of us didnt want Grandpa Bob to suffer anymore and the night before he passed she prayed that his body would manifest healing so that he could do the things he wanted to do, (live life) or that he would go to Heaven but no more suffering from cancer. Not a perfect Dad, but our super hero and the best Dad for us, that was our Dad!Dad we miss you so much! We thank you for loving us so well and we will always love you!
