Obituary of John J. Granger

Tribute John J. Granger passed away peacefully on July 18, 2022 in Brighton, Colorado. He was born on May 2, 1934, to Anita and John B. Granger in New Port, New Hampshire. He was the oldest of two boys. John joined the Marines shortly after graduating. He spent time travelling with the military until he eventually settled in Colorado where he began working as a millwright at the Gates Rubber company. He spent his career with Gates until he retired and worked part time at the local County General store for several more years. John was a man of several hobbies that included taxidermy, farming, hunting, and gardening. In his older years John would spend hours sitting in his favorite rocking chair in front of his home drinking sweet tea and waving at semis passing by. John loved watching WWE wrestling and continued to follow the sport until his passing. John will be remembered for his quiet nature and famous denim overalls. John is survived by his wife Mary; his children, Shelby (Gabriel) Pereira, Cully (Mae) Granger; stepchildren Jack (Zhen) Lutes, Jim Lutes, Nancy Lutes; grandchildren Averi (Michael) Pereira Luis, Kelsey Tejeda, Daniel Pereira, Caleb Pereira, James (Jessica) Patterson, Crystal (Eric) Bradley, Nikki Lutes, Melvin Lutes, and Sara Lutes. John is also survived by his eight great-grandchildren, and numerous family and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents and brother Patrick. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 11th, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home, 503 Terry St., Longmont, CO 80501. A reception will follow the service, also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Heart Association.
