Obituary of Pamela Bennett

Tribute So many hearts are aching because so many hearts loved her. Pamela “Pam” West Bennett was born November 21, 1952, in Howell, Michigan, to Pauline West Bennett and Marvin Henry Bennett. On June 11, 2022, Pam left this world peacefully after a nearly three-year, brave journey with pancreatic cancer. In lieu of flowers, Pam prefers donations to Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (Longmont, CO: https://www.greenwoodwildlife.org/donate) and the Humane Society (your location choice). Life Partner, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Marketing and Sales Professional, Artist, Actress, Theater Set Designer and Set Painter, Beloved Friend. Pam is survived by her life partner David Smith; son Nick Shows and wife Rachel; son Matthew Shows; grandchildren Sophie, Miles and Teio; four brothers Michael, Dwight, Marvin and David Bennett; and innumerable friends. Pam offered unconditional support, concern and love for her friends and family, and she genuinely wanted to hear their life updates and stories. She preferred to focus on the positive, which may have roots in her days as a cheerleader at Bluffton High School in Ohio. Her grandchildren were some of her favorite bright spots, and she loved talking to them, and reading and playing games with them. Kind and generous, Pam was also fierce and educated. She was clear with what and who were priorities, and she would express her opinions and advocate for justice and cherished causes. She was quick-witted, often with dry humor, and she enjoyed both playful banter and intellectual challenges. Lover and maker of art, her skilled creations and designs graced theater spaces, and her paintings over several decades remain as part of her legacy in her and others’ homes. She contributed and participated on and off several local theater stages, like Theater Company of Lafayette and Coal Creek Theater of Louisville, flowing from behind-the-scenes tech to props to set design to acting. Pam last worked at the GEO Group, Inc., first as Senior Marketing Communications Project Manager and then as Marketing Manager, in Boulder, Colorado. In her final weeks, Pam asked that the following message be relayed publicly: “Work on your health because if you’re going to live longer, you may as well have a good quality of life.” With the many connections Pam created and maintained, she is most remembered for her genuine smile, heartfelt drive, ability to put people at ease, amazing hair (!), and inspiration. She was a resilient, bright force in this world. A Celebration of Life service will honor Pam on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 11 a.m. Mountain Time at Carroll-Lewellyn Funeral Home in Longmont, Colorado, and livestream of the service will be available for out-of-town family and friends.
