Obituary of Avery Pitcairn

Avery Rayne Pitcairn passed away on March 5, 2022 in Boulder County, Colorado. He was 25 years old.

With a rainbow shining in our window, we welcomed our beautiful son, Avery Rayne Pitcairn.

He was born on September 29, 1996 in Boulder Colorado to his father Eric W. Pitcairn and his mother Hollie E. Miner. He grew up in Longmont and Boulder Colorado attending daycare and elementary school in Hygiene, CO, and middle-school in Longmont. He graduated from Silver Creek High School in Longmont in 2014, lettering in history, language arts, creative writing, and receiving complementary citations from teachers. He went on to attend Colorado State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education/History in 2019, making the Dean’s List every year. While deciding on his future profession, he worked for Home Depot, Viking Plumbing and Heating, and Longmont Dairy.

Fearless and outgoing, with a warm heart and a personality as big as the mountains, he loved bringing people together. He made us laugh and loved to share his extensive knowledge of history, his amazing artwork, his stories and his diverse taste in music. He left a lasting impression on all whom he met and a lifetime of memories for his friends and family.

He was interested in writing, particularly mythological fantasy-fiction. An avid world traveler, he had been to the Cayman Islands, Scotland and England, as well as the U.S. He studied Odinist mythology and enjoyed exploring his Celtic, Norse-Viking, Scandinavian, British and Italian heritage. He was a talented singer, drummer, computer gamer, and was a metal, classic rock and Celtic music enthusiast. He loved riding his motorcycle. He was truly a consummate warrior poet in search of glory in all things.

Avery is survived by his mother Hollie Miner of Longmont, father Eric Pitcairn and stepmother Kayla Pitcairn of Boulder County, and step-brother Tanner May (& Laura Swartz), and step-sister Jessie (& Joe) Baily and the Baily children Izzy, Dameon and Willow. Grandparents, Bill and Marilyn Pitcairn of Boulder, and Darwin and Patricia Miner of Longmont, and (Ralph Sutton, Sr and his wife Sheila.) Aunt Jennifer (& Russel) Johnson; cousins Janine Hodges (Garrett), Kasey, Shay, and Shelby Johnson; (uncle Ralph Sutton Jr. and family) and (uncle Kevin Sutton and family); grand-uncle Douglas (and Kathy) Strand and family; grand-uncle Joe (Sylvia) Scibetta and family; grand-cousin Marsha Sue (and Phil) Ahrenkiel; grand-cousin Mark (and Kari) Anderson and family. Additional family members of the extended Pitcairn, Digby, Strand, Anderson, Laurel, Turner, Miner, Scibetta, (Cain and Saul) families.

We know that Avery has received greetings from his family who have preceded him and from his beloved dog Sable Pearl over the Bifrost Bridge, Ásgard and on into Heavens gardens. He is an inspirational living light that will shine on in the hearts of everyone he touched and will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Hail to the Viking traveler Avery Rayne Pitcairn. In peace, love and grace, Slán Abhaile, Slán go Foill (safe journey home, farewell for now) our Avery Rayne.
