Obituary of Shirley E. Powers

Tribute Shirley E. Powers, a dearly loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at her home February 12, 2022. She was born June 26, 1928 to George and Doris Owen. Shirley earned her RN degree in 1950 and went to work as a Nurse Anesthetist for 25 years. In addition to having 7 children and being very much a part of her church through the years, she entertained hundreds of friends and family on “the farm” for over 50 years. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Douglas K. Powers in 2003. She is survived by a brother Dr. Don (Echo) Owen, a sister Janice Hicks and is also survived by 7 children, Lynne (Gary) Robinson, Phil (Debbie) Powers, Dr. Dave (Tawnja) Powers, Laurel (Daryel) Davis, Tim (Gail) Powers, Steve (Yvonne) Powers, and Mike (Laura) Powers. Shirley leaves 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. A memorial service will be held March 5, 2022 at the Longmont Church of the Nazarene. In lieu flowers, donations may be sent to the Longmont Church of the Nazarene missions fund.
