Obituary of Helen Reid

Tribute Helen Louise Reid of Berthoud, Colorado, left this earth for a better home on January 30, 2022. She was born to Piercy and Nona Sinclair and married William (Bill) Reid. They lovingly and successfully worked a family farm until moving to Berthoud. Helen was a member of the Church of Christ from her early teens to her death, quietly serving as an elder’s wife for over 30 years and as a steady worker in the church. She spent countless hours during her lifetime, working alongside her husband and later by herself, on church projects of all stripes, and showed hospitality to hundred of guests in her home. She attended the Cloverdale Church of Christ in Indiana from infancy until her move to Berthoud, Colorado. During her time as an elder’s wife in the Cloverdale church she worked on many projects. One of which was a large, months-long project in which she and her husband spearheaded a major renovation of the building, built in 1858. Latter, she and her husband worked months gathering old photos and information for Dr. Raymond Muncy, acting chair of Harding University’s History Department, who wrote a history of the 150-year-old church. She and her husband, Bill, placed membership with the Loveland Church of Christ after moving to Berthoud, and she remained a faithful member till her move to Good Samaritan Loveland Village. Like her mother, Helen loved working in her yard and garden until vision problems began to make it difficult. During the later years before her death, when she couldn’t work outside in her yard, she spent her days crafting small quilts–in spite of macular degeneration, Fuchs’ Corneal Dystrophy, and glaucoma, which all compromised her vision. She donated her small quilts to the Longmont Church of Christ, whose members added them to backpacks which were given to Boulder County social workers for distribution to children taken from homes where meth labs had been found. Later her quilts were given to parents participating in Boulder County’s Integrated Treatment Court and to Longmont’s Life Choices Pregnancy Center. Eventually, that, too, became too difficult because of her impaired vision. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill, her parents Piercy and Nona, brother Wayne, and sisters Fern, Doris, and Theda. Helen is survived by two daughters, Teresa Bennett (husband Bruce) of Longmont and Connie Allen of Johnstown; three grandsons; four great-granddaughters; many nieces and nephews; and countless Christian brothers and sisters. A memorial service celebrating Helen’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., February 19, 2022, at the Loveland Church of Christ, 4100 S. Taft Ave., Loveland CO 80537.
