Obituary of Richard Lyman Bannon

Tribute Richard L. Bannon of Longmont Colorado joined his beloved wife Joyce in a better place January 16, 2022. If ever there was a soul that should be welcomed through the gates of heaven, it would be his. A native of Colorado, he experienced early success in athletics while attending Ault High School and Doane University. He then moved to California to study at the Pacific School of Religion before pursuing a successful career in Fire Protection. During his journey in CA he became an inspirational father to his son, Charles and loving custodian of his granddaughter Tiffany. A respected member of his community in Pinole, CA, he became President of the local chapter of Jaycees before becoming Councilman and eventually Mayor. As a devout Christian, he viewed his community service as an extension of his faith. Those who knew him will fondly recall Richard’s sense of humor. Quick witted, he had a knack for finishing conversations with an ironic line that would leave others in stitches. If there was a public place where others gathered, you could count him in. He cherished open debate, sharing stories or just listening to others. He loved people! Well, maybe women a little more than men. But probably above all he valued nothing more than being there for others. No matter who, what or when he would offer to help. He will be greatly missed by many. Besides Charles and Tiffany, Richard is survived by his sister, Joanne Weaver whom he shared a sacred bond grounded in an unparalleled sense of love, trust and respect.
