Obituary of Max M Smoot

Tribute Max M. Smoot, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away on February 16, 2023. He was 92 years old. Max was born April 1, 1930 in Glasco, Kansas to Marion Abner and Gertrude Eloise (Howe) Smoot. Max grew up and attended schools in Glasco. During his high school years, Max was in the Glee Club, mixed chorus and the Junior Play. He graduated from Glasco High School in the class of 1949. After graduation, Max was drafted in the United States Air Force on October 22, 1955. Max served four years in the Air Force and fought in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on October 21, 1959. On June 13, 1960, Max married Wilma Louis Brummer (Danielle) in Cawker City, Kansas. They were blessed with three children, Kevin Ray, Craig Steven and Carolyn Lynn. In 1968, Max moved his family to Longmont, Colorado. Max was a home builder by trade. However, he enjoyed many hobbies. He was an inventor. Max acquired a Patent for one of his inventions- a hitch pin. He also enjoyed hunting. He always made time to help coach youth baseball activities while his sons were playing. Max also liked to relax and watch the Denver Broncos. Friends and family may pay their respect to Max at a viewing and visitation, 10am-11am, Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home, 503 Terry Street in Longmont. A Celebration of Max’s life will follow at 11am, also at the funeral home. Cremation will take place following all services and Max will eventually be placed next to his mother at the Glasco Cemetery in Kansas. Survivors include his three children, Kevin Ray Smoot (Gina) of Frederick Colorado, Craig Steven Smoot (Alison) of Broomfield, Colorado, Carolyn Lynn Smoot of Erie Colorado; Sister-in-Law, Darlene Smoot of Miltonvale, Kansas; Grandchildren, Shara Lyn Johnson, Benjamin Smoot, Zachary Smoot, Scott Smoot, Brittany Anderson, Robert Burger, Stephen Burger, Trinity Ruiz and Tayten Ruiz; Great Grandchildren, Damien Anderson, Liam Anderson, Rylen Burger, Jaxen Burger, Atreus Johnson and Charli Wilder Smoot and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by his sisters, Ella Mae Patrick, Joan Marlene Annis and Betty Lou Kaspers; two brothers, William Duane Smoot and Richard Dean Smoot and a grandson, Samson Ariel Smoot.
