Obituary of Rocky DeLiere

Devalle‎ "Rocky"‎ DeLiere‎ passed‎ away‎ on‎ Tuesday,‎ February‎ 16th,‎ 2023‎ in‎ Longmont,‎ ‎ Colorado‎ at‎ Longmont‎ United‎ Hospital‎ in‎ the‎ care‎ of:‎ TRU‎ Community‎ Care‎ Hospice.‎ He‎ had‎ a‎ long‎ battle‎ with‎ Chronic‎ Obstructive‎ Pulmonary‎ Disease‎ (COPD)‎ and‎ diabetes.

Rocky‎ was‎ born‎ in‎ Longmont,‎ Colorado‎ to‎ Clifford‎ and‎ Helen‎ (Detrich)‎ DeLiere‎ on‎ September‎ 8th‎ 1957‎ at‎ what‎ was‎ then,‎ Longmont‎ Community‎ Hospital‎ at‎ Fourth‎ Avenue‎ and‎ Coffman‎ Street.

He‎ was‎ preceded‎ in‎ death‎ by‎ his‎ father,‎ Clifford‎ and‎ his‎ grandparents,‎ Paul‎ and‎ Verna‎ DeLiere.‎ Two‎ brothers,‎ Ricky‎ and‎ Daniel‎ DeLiere‎ (older‎ and‎ younger,‎ respectively)‎ also‎ preceded‎ Rocky‎ in‎ death‎ in‎ early‎ childhood.

Rocky‎ is‎ survived‎ by‎ his‎ mother,‎ Helen‎ DeLiere‎ of‎ Simi‎ Valley,‎ California,‎ his‎ friend,‎ Jeff‎ Krieg‎ and‎ his‎ many‎ friends‎ at‎ Aspen‎ Meadows‎ Apartments‎ in‎ Longmont.

He‎ worked‎ most‎ of‎ his‎ life‎ in‎ the‎ building‎ trades‎ as‎ a‎ carpenter‎ and‎ a‎ plumber.

Rocky‎ was‎ an‎ avid‎ outdoorsman,‎ active‎ in‎ camping,‎ fishing‎ and‎ hunting,‎ and‎ was‎ an‎ accomplished‎ elk‎ hunter.

He‎ enjoyed‎ model‎ railroading,‎ building‎ model‎ vehicles,‎ reading‎ detective‎ novels‎ and‎ growing‎ house‎ plants.‎ He‎ loved‎ dogs.

Rocky‎ was‎ a‎ collector‎ of‎ native‎ American‎ art‎ such‎ as,‎ blankets,‎ pottery‎ and‎ dream‎ catchers.‎

Life‎ dealt‎ Rocky‎ many‎ challenges,‎ but‎ he‎ was‎ rich‎ in‎ his‎ many‎ friendships‎ and‎ always‎ shared‎ what‎ he‎ had‎ with‎ others‎ who‎ were‎ less‎ fortunate.

A‎ "celebration‎ of‎ life"‎ gathering‎ for‎ Rocky‎ will‎ be‎ held‎ at‎ Aspen‎ Meadows‎ Apartments‎ in‎ the‎ second‎ floor‎ Gathering‎ room‎ on‎ Sunday,‎ ‎ February‎ 26,‎ 2023‎ at‎ 2:00pm.
