Obituary of Elena Rose Garcia

We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Elena Rose Garcia, on July 3, 2023 in Gunnison, Colorado.

 

Elena was born May 1, 1929 in Queens, New York, to Anna E. Forte and Francisco S. Mignogna.

 

She found true joy in her love for Jehovah God. Elena was a faith-filled and faithful woman of God. She devoted herself to the study and sharing of Holy Scripture.  

 

Elena was a devoted Daughter, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She had a passion for children. She was always there for her six children and three step-children. She was a lifelong caregiver of many children. She was a great listener and always had an open ear for others. She always gave and never worried about what it took to help those in need.

 

She was instrumental in several organizations of service and charity. Elena was a lifelong volunteer and modeled servant leadership for her family and many communities.

  

She enjoyed travel, painting, and spending time with her family and countless friends.  Elena had a wonderful sense of humor and loved comedy. She met her first husband, Raymond R. Stein, and second husband, Carlos Garcia, while bowling.

 

Her smile was infectious and welcomed everyone with open arms. 

 

Elena was preceded in death by her eldest child/son, Michael Stein, brothers Joseph Mignogna, Edward Mignogna, and sister Virginia Nartis. She was survived by her five children: Barbara Randel (husband-George) of Virginia; Raymond Stein (wife-Tracy) of Colorado; Carole Marks of Colorado; Paul Garcia (wife-Lori) of Florida; Rosemarie Forte of Colorado.

 

Fifteen Grandchildren: Carrie Stein, Melissa Palmer, Sophie Randel, Emmitt Randel, Raymond J. Stein, Brian Stein, Kayla Garcia Strouse, Richard Forte, Andy Randel, Matthew Garcia, Nathaniel Camacho, Jordan Marks, Evan Marks, Joel Marks.

 

Seven Great Grandchildren: Tara Long, Avery Loney, Austin Loney, Rohan Stein, Naomi Camacho, Elwood Camacho, Jaya Stein.

 

One Great Great Granddaughter: Paris Ewing.

 

Elena was blessed by and a blessing to several nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

 

The family respectfully requests donations in memory of Elena R. Garcia in lieu of flowers to Michael J. Fox Foundation to help with research and support for those with Parkinson’s. Michael J. Fox Foundation:
