Obituary of Ed Ankrum

John Edward Ankrum,77 years old of Loveland Colorado went home to be with our Lord and Savior on December 29, 2023.

Ed was born on May 27, 1946 in Carrington, North Dakota to John and Lilian Ankrum. He grew up on a small farm in central North Dakota. Ed graduated from Fessenden High School in 1964 and Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis Minnesota in 1968 in construction engineering. He moved to Longmont, Colorado in 1971 to start Ankrum Construction with his brother Ken. Ed was well known in the construction business in Longmont and the surrounding area. He was very sought after for his skills and his eye for detail made Ed an asset as a Finish Carpenter. Building cabinetry from scratch and his inlay work with fine wood is truly an art that would be hard to match to this day.

Ed and Sherry were married at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park in 1994 and loved going back there to celebrate their anniversaries. They made their home in Berthoud and then Loveland but enjoyed traveling for work and pleasure. He had a strong faith and was a member of Foundations Church of Loveland. He was an avid Trap Shooter and a daunting competitor at the Berthoud Trap Club. He was a loving husband who also adored his family and friends. The outdoors was his passion and he had many hunting and fishing adventures with his friends. His wittiness, smile, sense of humor and gift to gab will be greatly missed.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; John W. and Lilian Ankrum, brother Ken Ankrum, sisters Dora Ankrum and Doris Anderson and nephew Rick Ankrum. Ed is survived by his wife Sherry Ankrum, his two daughters Kim Bell (Brett) Valencia, CA; Tammi Paulsen (Joe) Cheyenne, WY and 3 stepchildren, Nicole White (Richard) Longmont; Derek Johnston (Jamie) Longmont; Jill Kirar (Vance) Charleston, along with 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

 A visitation will be held on Tuesday January 9, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m.at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home. Memories may be shared at www.carroll-lewellen.com
